President, The Ohio Roundtable
President, The Ohio Freedom Forum

As President of the Ohio Roundtable and the Ohio Freedom Forum since 1986, David Zanotti has led the non-partisan, statewide public policy organizations in unprecedented achievements on a variety of state and national issues, building a reputation as a solid, uncompromising strategist.  The Plain Dealer described Mr. Zanotti as "disciplined, prepared and focused,"...a man that has "quietly made a profound impact on the state's political structure." (April 27, 1997)

Just how profound an impact?  Under Mr. Zanotti's leadership, The Roundtable has flourished from its inception in 1980 as a regionally based group, to become one of the leading organizations of its kind in the country.  Working with state and national leaders from across the political spectrum, the Roundtable and Freedom Forum have established a significant record of public policy victories including:

  • The unprecedented passage in 1992 of three citizen-initiated constitutional amendments to limit politicians' terms

  • The defeat of casino gambling on the Ohio ballot in 1990 and 1996

  • The passage of major campaign reform legislation

  • The construction of a national health care coalition to assist in the defeat of the 1994 Health Security Act

  • The founding of The School Choice Committee and the development of major statewide and national support for school choice.

  • The defeat of outcome-based education in the Ohio General Assembly.

  • The 1998 defeat of the billion-dollar state sales tax increase - with the largest ballot margin in Ohio history.

  • The development of Decision '98 and Decision 2000 - two of the most visited election information sites on the Internet.

The Ohio Roundtable is a non-profit, non-partisan education and research organization.  The Ohio Freedom Forum is a citizen-based, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting positive alternatives in public policy.  Both organizations' efforts are impacting public policy in Ohio, on Capitol Hill and in other states across the nation.
