Justice at Last for 817 Needy Cleveland Children

Cleveland, Ohio - The US Supreme Court today moved to protect the children in the Cleveland Scholarship Program by overruling federal Judge Solomon Oliver Jr.'s injunction banning funding for 817 needy children's scholarships.  The Supreme Court decision means that full funding is restored for these children pending further court action.

These children have been shut out of the scholarship funding plan since late August.  They have continued to go to school in spite of the Judge's ruling.  Their schools have continued to educated the children in spite of having none of the funding promised by the state program.

David Zanotti, Chairman of the School Choice Committee released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court action:

"This is the best possible news for 817 Cleveland children and their families.  Our congratulations to the fine legal team that took this case to the United States Supreme Court.  This decision affirms that fact that the ACLU cannot bully poor children and their parents forever.  There is still justice in America.  Today justice was served for the children and parents of Cleveland."
